3.56 Million Passengers during 2021 and 8% Increase in Air-Cargo Traffic

Directorate General of Civil Aviation revealed that Kuwait International Airport has witnessed decrease in passengers traffic by 8%, increase in flights traffic by 5%, and increase in air-cargo traffic by 8% last year compared to 2020.

 

Deputy Director-General for Aviation Safety, Air-Transport & Aviation Security - Duaij Al-Otaibi said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), that the total number of passengers last year amounted to 3560280 passengers, compared to 3875061 passengers in 2020.

 

He added that the arriving passengers traffic amounted to 1458163 passengers in 2021, compared to 1835271 passengers in 2020, while the traffic of departing passengers amounted to 2102117 passengers, compared to 2039790 passengers in 2020.

 

He indicated that total traffic of flights operated from and to Kuwait International Airport in 2021 amounted to 48257 flights, compared to 46062 flights in 2020.

 

With regard to air-cargo volume at Kuwait International Airport, he pointed out that the total volume in 2021 amounted to 208721162 kilograms, compared to 2020 where the total air-cargo volume amounted to 193863062 kilograms.

 

Moreover, he stated that the inbound cargo traffic in 2021 amounted to 168900684 kilograms, compared to 2020 where the volume of inbound cargo amounted to 166772268 kilograms, while the outbound cargo traffic last year amounted to 39820478 kilograms, compared to 2020 in which the volume of outbound cargo amounted to 27090794 kilograms.
